Meet Alister

Alister, is a 10 week old male British bulldog. We suspect he has something called butterfly spine which is a malformation of the lower spine. Which causes incontinence and lack of feeling and movement in the back legs.

Alister is double incontinent and is currently wearing nappies as he has no control of his bladder or bowel movements, this doesn’t effect his quality of life.

Alister is an absolute cuddle monster and loves all the attention from people, kids and other dogs. Alister can be re-homes with children ideally older children who can understand that he is disabled. He can also be homed with cats as he is young enough to adapt to most animals.

He currently doesn’t need assistance with going to the toilet but as he grows that might change and he might need expressing. We would ideally like him to go to a home with experience with a dog with disabilities, but if you are willing to learn from one of our team how to care for him correctly we will consider your application.

Although Alister can’t walk he gets around and doesn’t allow it to stop him. Once he is old enough he will need a wheelchair which we will help fundraise for.

Our vets have advised not to do an MRI scan as there isn’t much point finding out what we already know when there is not treatment for his disability. It will be a case of life long management and adaptions for his needs.

If you can give Alister the life he deserves and also able to take care of his medical needs you can apply for him via our website which is linked below.
