Meet Neil
Some dogs come into rescue and quietly change everything. They remind us why we open our hearts, why we fight got the vulnerable and why love no matter how fragile is always worth it. Neil is one of those dogs. Neil came into our care at just six week old, alongside his siblings a tiny bundle of yellow fluff with the sweetest face and the most trusting eyes. Sadly , tragedy struck early. Despite every effort, Neil’s littermates were too poorly to survive and one by one they slipped away. Neil was the only one who made it. The little pup who shouldn’t have survived did. From the very beginning, Neil proved he was a fighter. But as he grew, it became clear that Neil was different. He was unsteady on his paws, often losing his balance or toppling over when he tried to walk or play. Yet every time he fell he got back up again tail wagging , full of courage and determination. Neil has been born with cerebellar hypoplasia, a neurological condition that affects movement and coordination. While it isn’t painful, it means that Neil will always have difficulties with balance and control. The world is a wobbly place for him, but he faces it with more joy and bravery than many of us ever could. His zest for life never faded if anything it grew stronger. With Neils medical needs, combined with his neurological challenges, we knew he would never be able to cope safely in a new home. New envioemtns, unfamiliar sounds and changes to his routine could overwhelm him. He needed stability, expert care and people who understand him completely. Neil will stay with us here in rescue for life. He has his forever home right here, surrounded by love, safety and with the family who has been by his side from the very beginning. Caring for Neil isn’t always easy. His condition means he needs extra time, attention and ongoing treatment. But we wouldn’t have it any other way. Neil reminds us daily that a life worth saving isn’t measured in perfection but in love. Sometimes forever doesn’t come with adoption papers. Sometimes, it’s found in the quiet promise we make to a tiny puppy who never gave up.
