a central asian shephard looking for a new home at breeds in need

Meet Fred

A while ago, we did a post about Fred going to his new home. Unfortunately he was returned the same week for growling. Of course we took him straight back and have continued to assess his behaviour, had a vet assessment and also castrated him (he wasn’t already done due to still being young but the vet made an exception to get him done now). We have no concerns with regard to his temperament. He really is a lovely boy and especially for his breed, he’s very happy go lucky.

Fred is a central Asian shepherd and a big boy. They are known for being protective and aloof with strangers, but not our freddo! He loves everyone he meets.

Fred is great with other dogs with gradual introductions but can be reactive to some dogs on a walk. He loves children but we are saying ideally age 10+ as he could easily knock a small child over.

Fred needs an owner that is experienced with large breeds. He is a guardian breed and although he has been nurtured into a lovely dog, we must remember that guardian breed is in his nature and respect that fact.

Fred loves affection and is great with larger animals, like horses and live stock but doesn’t really like cats and smaller animals and will chase.

Please note that we are community based, meaning our animals can be located anywhere in the country with our fosters. Please ensure you are able to travel to the animals location to meet them.
